CO Movie Day: "Tombiruo: Penunggu Rimba"

Ganesher shows off his "Tombiruo" movie tickets

12 Oct – "Tombiruo" is one of Ramlee Awang Murshid's earliest works, so having the beloved novel adapted to the silver screen has gotten many of his fans excited, and this was proven during yesterday's screening of "Tombiruo: Penunggu Rimba" held at mmCineplexes, eCurve.

"Tombiruo: Penunggu Rimba" is released in nationwide cinemas today, but of course, winners of Cinema Online's screening contest, who are mostly fans of the renowned Malaysian novelist – got to watch the action movie one day before the official release!

Ruaini and Zulfadzli won two tickets each!

"Ramlee Awang Murshid is known for many of his famous titles. From the trailer, the movie looked fascinating, so I was intrigued and I wanted to be one of the first to watch the movie," said Nazher Khan who plans to immediately read the novels after watching the movie.

Nazher and his friend are one of the earliest to collect the tickets.

Many of the winners in attendance were thrilled to find out how the 1998 novel was going to be translated into a movie and how accurate it will be compared to the source material.

"I have always been a fan of Ramlee Awang Murshid. I read all of his "Tombiruo" trilogy books. So I want to see exactly how the film delivers. Will it be the same or will it be different from the novels?", asked Iszmir Nazmi.

"But since I know that the novelist is also directly involved in the film production, and the cast of the movie seems promising, I think the film is in good hands," he added.

Iszmir is a huge fan of Ramlee Awang Murshid's works.

Kelvin Chew has collected his tickets!

"Ramlee Awang Murshid is a legendary author, so that's the main reason why I want to watch the movie. I haven't read "Tombiruo" yet since it's an old book, but I have read some of his other works and I really loved them."

"In Malaysia, we don't have a lot of this genre for the big screen, so I'm really excited for it," commented Afifah who came to the screening with her bestie Fiza.

Afifah and Fiza have read some of the author's previous books.

Another winner, Fikry, also share the same thought, "The film is something new and I'm excited for it because I believe that it can bring something different to the local film industry."

"To be honest, I haven't read the novel yet, but I've read reviews of the novel and a lot of them gave it good reviews, so that's also what attracts me to watch the film."

Fikry believes that the movie can bring changes to the local movie landscape.

"Tombiruo: Penunggu Rimba" directed by Seth Larney, stars Zul Ariffin in the titular role alongside Farid Kamil, Nabila Huda, Faizal Hussein, Hasnul Rahmat and more.
