Patrick Stewart's "Star Trek" spinoff gets official show title and logo

A sneak peek of Patrick Stewart in the upcoming "Star Trek" spinoff series.

16 May – Less than a year ago, English actor Patrick Stewart announced that he will be leading a "Star Trek" spinoff series starring his character Captain Jean-Luc Picard.

Now, the official show title and logo have finally been revealed on "Star Trek's" social media.

The spinoff series, which is expected to air later this year, keeps its name simple and straight to the point: "Star Trek: Picard".

Even though a short preview was screened at the CBS and CBS All Access Upfronts presentation, the plot was not revealed. Buzzfeed reporter Kate Aurthur did manage to share on Twitter a shot of Stewart in character (pic above).

Here's a look at the logo:

Aside from Stewart reprising his role, other cast members include Santiago Cabrera, Isa Briones, Michelle Hurd, Harry Treadaway and Alison Pill.

The first two episodes will have Hanelle M. Culpepper as director, while the following two will be helmed by Jonathan Frakes, who also starred in "Star Trek: The Next Generation" with Stewart.
