18 Mar – While Disney was adamant to release the Scarlett Johansson-starring "Black Widow" in North American cinemas this 1 May, the studio has today succumbed to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak pressure and decided to postpone the movie.

Variety reported that the movie was pulled from the studio's release schedule earlier today but has yet to receive a new date.

The shift to a different date was inevitable since major cinema chains across multiple states in the US have been ordered to close. Following its US postponement, it will also not open in other cinemas worldwide anytime soon.

"Black Widow" joins a growing list of Disney titles that have been delayed, including "Mulan", "The New Mutants", "Antlers" and most recently, Amy Adams' "The Woman in the Window" and Dev Patel's "The Personal History of David Copperfield".

So far, other major releases that have been delayed include "Fast and Furious 9", "A Quiet Place Part II" and Daniel Craig's final Bond movie, "No Time to Die".
