Hong Kong FILMART 2020 might be postponed to another month

FILMART 2020 would be the 24th edition of the annual event.

12 Feb – With many large-scale events forced to either reschedule or cancel due to the Coronavirus outbreak that has spread beyond China, Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART) is also now looking at postponing its dates.

Originally planned to be held from 25 to 28 March 2020, the annual event will reportedly be moving to a different month, according to Content Asia.

Mostly likely it will be held after summer, specifically in September, as it is believed that the virus' spread might be halted by warmer weather.

The new dates have yet to be confirmed, pending announcement from the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), who has so far revealed news dates for other upcoming exhibitions that are set to be held in Hong Kong.

In related news, Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF) is still expected to take place this 24 March to 6 April.

The 39th Hong Kong Film Awards (HKFA) will also be held as planned, despite rumours circulating online that it will be cancelled.

China Film Insider revealed that Tin Kai Man, the director of the award's Association, stated that the awards ceremony will be held on a smaller scale and only the red carpet will be cancelled. This is due to limited space as HKFA will no longer be held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.

This year's HKFA, which will instead be moved to Kowloon Bay International Trade and Exhibition Centre, has set its tentative date for 19 April.
